As we bring 2014 to a close we can look back and say "LOOK WHAT THE LORD HAS DONE!!" A brand new community that was very limited to the gospel of Jesus Christ has been brought forth. 100's of souls have given their lives to Jesus Christ. A brand new evangelical church has been placed in the very heart of the Chorti Indian territory, first time in history! Now the little church is too small and another building needs to be built due to explosive growth!!
This community unfortunately comes with its very own problems: illiteracy; no biblical knowledge; hunger; unemployment; medical needs; and much more! We are doing our very best to meet needs as they come forth. The Word of God is being preached. A reading program is in place. We feed and provide medical care as provisions are available.
2015 is coming soon!! Nothing was accomplished in 2014 without the hearts, hands, and feet of so many. This is a partnership ministry and there is enough room for everyone! Don't miss out on your opportunity to become a part through your monthly financial partnership, giftings and talents, and willingness to come on a short-term mission trip. By us coming together as one, we can overcome the Kingdom of Darkness and usher in the light of Christ, changing this community for all eternity.

MorningStar Missions
Establish the following monthly funds (please consider sponsoring one of these funds monthly, even partially)
Mission Teams - Our goal is to bring in 8-10 teams that consist of different skill sets to reach the community for Christ. We are wanting to open the door more so for those with the desire to: evangelize; use their construction skills; provide medical care; hold seminars; minister in schools; hold nightly church meetings; and much more. The opportunities are endless and we have the ability to do so.
Community Development - Currently at this time, we have made a collective effort to impact La Laguna and surrounding communities. La Laguna is at the heart of all surrounding areas of where we want to reach. By reaching out and developing points of contact, we are priming other areas to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ. In order to do so, we are developing leaders within the La Laguna church to take the message of Christ to 3 other Chorti Indian communities through weekly bible studies and other forms of outreach. As time goes by, our desire is to build churches within these areas of development, but that is not foreseen until 2016 or later. Part of this community development would be to provide a salary to another leader within the church along with Pastor Favio.
Reading Program - Illiteracy is a huge problem within the Chorti Indian communities; some has said the illiteracy rate is high as 90%. At this point in time, we do have the reading program in place and we are seeing a great amount of success. The students are all adults and they attend class 3 times a week. We use this program to not only teach them how to read, but use it as an evangelism tool as well.
Internship Program - We have had many requests for us to consider an internship program for recently high school grads and college age individuals. We are in the preliminary stages of putting this program together by offering it to two different qualified candidates. Stay tuned for more information to come out on this.
Pastoral Development - This is something we started when we arrived in country. Monthly my wife and I meet with local pastors and discuss many different topics impacting the local church. Our desire is that they become encouraged and lifted up to run the race for Christ. In August we had our 1st annual pastor's conference. It was very successful and well received. We will be continuing this throughout the year of 2015.
Alexis Paul - She is continuing with her work at the local Christian school. This year she is the 3rd grade teacher. It is coming with its certain challenges, but she is up to the task at hand.
Community of La Laguna
Build a New 30' x 30' Sanctuary - It was quite evident from the beginning that the new sanctuary built in June of 2014 was going to be too small. You could have never guessed that prior to the build. Pastor Favio had 8 families at best coming to his weekly meetings. Due to the explosive growth, the church is packed every time the church doors are open. Our plans are to build a larger building and give the current building to the children's ministry. We would like to build this building in phases by attaining the key mission teams, it will be much easier for all to absorb the cost.
Build a Children's Playground Set - When you get to know Pastor Favio's heart, you will realize children touch him in a special way. His desire is to have a playground set built on the church property. Currently, he has a soccer field, but would like to add this playground set as another piece to bring the kids from the community to the church.
Adult ministry - As mentioned before, we are at the basics with the current body of believers at the La Laguna church. We have a few that are rising up and proving themselves to be leaders. It must be taken one step further. True leadership and discipleship programs must be established to raise them up from one level to the next. Our desire is to attain leadership and discipleship material in Spanish.
Children ministry - We currently have in place a weekly children's program for the kids in La Laguna. The first day we had it scheduled it was raining harder than I ever have seen it, so we were forced to cancel it. Word got back to us that 30 kids showed up and were waiting in anticipation. Naturally, that broke our hearts. The following Thursday, we were ready to go and it was a great time. We are now moving forward and not looking back. Our plan is to take this next year to train up a local member to take this developed ministry over with our guidance and direction. We come to the same issue at hand, needing children's ministry curriculum in Spanish. Nancy already has it picked out, it's called "Boot Camp."

MorningStar Missions
Establish the following monthly funds (please consider sponsoring one of these funds monthly, even partially)
- Medical ($150 monthly sponsor needed) - La Laguna and beyond is a community of 250 plus people. On a monthly basis we come across individuals that need medical care beyond the local clinic can provide by taking them to Santa Rosa, Honduras or Chiquimula, Guatemala for treatment. Also, there are prescriptions and such that need to be purchased along with fuel for transport and etc. We are wanting to develop an ongoing fund that we can rely on to help those in need.
- Feeding Program ($90 monthly sponsor needed) - It's not uncommon to come across a family in need for food. There are many reasons as to why they don't have food, but the point of the matter is that they are hungry. We are to feed and help sustain those in need by providing them with food. This fund would be continually there to reach out to those particular families.
- Small Work Related Projects ($145 monthly sponsor needed) - If you wanted to, daily you could find 2 projects (roofs, water lines, bathrooms, and etc.) a day here in Honduras. Need is everywhere you look. Guidance and wisdom from the Holy Spirit is a must. This fund would be established to meet those certain needs as they came forth.
- Vehicle Maintenance ($75 monthly sponsor needed) - Honduras is notorious for horrible roads. It takes work to maintain our vehicle via oil changes, brakes, tires, and unscheduled repairs. As we all know, the repairs come at unexpected times. This fund will help us keep our vehicle rolling, reaching and touching the lives for Christ.
- Assistant Leader Salary ($125 monthly sponsor needed) - Pastor Favio is currently working two churches in two different communities. At this time, we are needing a local church leader to assist him on a regular basis due to the amount of responsibility growing (home visits, conducting bible studies in new communities, medical needs, and much more). This will enable Santos to work part-time and devote much needed attention to the body of Christ.
