Chipping Away at God's Vision

Sometimes things in life takes time and that is what we are figuring out here for ourselves.  As much as we would like to see everything completed that's just not realistic.  Instead of looking at what needs to be completed, we are choosing to look at what has been completed and where we are going.

February has been a month of preparation for us more than anything else.  We are marching towards the things that are in our hearts, knowing God has a task in hand for us to complete.  The vision is burning in our hearts more and more as we see the light of its beacon calling out to us.  With great anticipation we know the fruit of our day to day labor is coming forth.

Pastor Favio was trained in San Pedro Sula this month to become a teacher for the "Adult Reading Program" that will be started in April.  Soon we will see it in full swing.  Young and old a like will be in class reading for the very first time in their lives, making a huge 180 degree turn for them and possibly for their families.  What better opportunities will be coming their way, is my question?  For the first time, they will be able to read God's Word, something that so many of us take for granted.  A whole new world will be opened up to them.
Pastors have and always will be burning in my heart.  They are the pillar in the body of Christ.  God uses them in a mighty fashion to move forward the Kingdom of God.  In February we had our very first pastors meeting where we teach and train them the Word of God.  We ministered on, "Be Like Jesus to Bring Change."  What a wonderful teaching it was by encouraging the pastors to look at Jesus to see how he was used to touch the lives of the people.  Being a vessel for the Kingdom of God, pouring out God's love and power into the hearts of those that they minister too.

Soon, we will be seeing the church erected in La Laguna.  Celebrating Jesus with the people of the community.  Watching God use Pastor Favio to move them from a place of hopelessness and poverty to applying God's Word and principles to their lives.  Them realizing that God can and will change their lives for the better forever!!  Glory be to God in the highest for his goodness and mercy!

Thank you to all that is standing behind us in prayer and financial support.  We all will never know the true impact of our collective work for his Kingdom.  Who will say to us in heaven, because of you, I am here.

Not Limitations, But Possibilities!

The other day I asked Shawn to share the vision God gave him for the people of Honduras.  Wow!  It is a little overwhelming at times for me to see the big picture the way he sees it.  He spoke with such confidence as though he punched Honduras into his car GPS and God laid it all out for him step by step to follow.  One thing he did remind me, it's a step by step process that we must follow and have faith in the Lord that he will see us through!

People have asked me often how I am going to be able to overcome the obstacle of the language barrier.  I have found even though I know very little Spanish I still can communicate with them through love.  Whether it is through a smile, hug, or a handshake I'm still communicating with them.  If we did not have our eyesight, are we just supposed to sit and go nowhere and say to our hands you are of no use?  If we cannot hear, are we still not able to hold a crying child and comfort it?

The bible says that we are to walk by faith and not by sight.  I may not be perfect but I am a willing vessel to walk up the mountains to go:  give a sack of food to a grandmother; replace a mother's torn blouse; play with the small children; or lay hands on the father requesting prayer for pain.  The key word is I am willing.  Let us set our selfish ways aside and take upon the ways of the Lord.

The vision is big but if you look at it piece by piece all things are possible.  What are you doing with the piece of the puzzle God has given you?  Are you looking at your limitations or the possibilities?

Wow!!, Didn't Know this One!!

It just keeps getting better and better!!  Nancy and I had the great pleasure to sit down with Steve and Audrey Long, they are missionaries and live in Copan Ruinas, Honduras as well.  They are seasoned veterans of mission work in this area and we wanted to get a greater insight on how to approach our work here in the area.  During our conversation, they brought something to our attention and it was quite shocking!!

Nancy and I are working in a community called "La Laguna."  This is a Chorti Indian community.  There are 50 of them throughout the area.  By nature, they are very resistant to new people coming in and they most generally stick together.  Well, since we have been here, we have been received with open arms of love by the people in the community.  They know we are here to show love and minister to them.

What Steve and Audrey further shared with us is what floored us.  They have been working here for over 10 years.  At this point in time, Steve and Audrey have bible studies in 12 of the communities, but there are NO evangelical churches whatsoever.  Just imagine not having a church in your community and how empty it would feel to not have a place to gather and worship the Lord together.

Well praise God, as you all might know, we are building a church in La Laguna this coming June!!  This church will be the first evangelical church ever erected within these communities.  This is such a cause for celebration.  What was once closed to our faith is now open.  God has opened this door and many others for us.  It will be so precious to see the hearts and lives change for His Kingdom!!
